Course Description:
Currently, there are approximately 17.5 million cancer survivors in the United States. Due to a number of factors including more effective treatments, this number is expected to rise to 22.2 million by the year 2030. The cancer and these treatments often impact function for cancer survivors requiring rehabilitation. Cancer rehabilitation has an increasingly important role in the cancer care continuum before, during, and after oncology interventions. During this conference, clinicians from leading rehabilitation and cancer care institutions will discuss interventions that impact function, quality of life, and survival with an emphasis on evidence-based assessment and treatment strategies that can be applied to clinical practice for clinicians working with those living with cancer.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this conference, participants will be able to:
• Illustrate 3 considerations for the expanding role of rehabilitation services in the care of cancer survivorship.
• Apply 3 evidence-based rehabilitation considerations when working with clients who are living with cancer.
• Apply 3 concepts related to rehabilitation medicine that affect clients with cancer undergoing rehabilitation related to common diagnoses.
• Implement 3 effective lifestyle changes, including nutrition, exercise, or self-care, for clients with cancer during their rehabilitation process.
