Learning outcome:
The Rehabilitation Registered Nurse will be able to discuss the key concepts, principles, treatments and strategies of rehabilitation nursing in order to provide quality care for patients seen in the rehabilitation setting and prepare to take the Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN) Exam.
Objectives:
- Explain the deficits with communication and swallowing seen in patients in the rehabilitation setting and identify appropriate nursing interventions.
- Reflect on the role of the registered nurse in the rehabilitation setting to identify interventions and establish a plan of care that includes patient centered goals.
- Explain the admission criteria and legislative and regulatory issues that affect access to post- acute rehabilitation settings.
- Define the role and scope of practice of the Case Manager in rehabilitation and the continuum of care setting.
- Review the epidemiology and etiology of brain injury, stroke, and spinal cord injury and describe the appropriate rehabilitation nursing interventions
- Apply the principles of theories pertinent to rehabilitation nursing to practice in the rehabilitation setting.
- Identify the developmental stages for the pediatric patient and formulate age specific interventions for planning pediatric interventions.
- Differentiate the etiology, pathophysiology, diagnosis, treatment and nursing interventions for chronic neurological conditions in rehab.
To receive contact hours for this nursing continuing professional development activity, the participant must:
- Complete the entire course
Once successful completion has been verified, a “Certificate of Successful Completion” will be awarded for _7.0_contact hours.
