Kate Hughes, PT, DPT, MS, OCS, SCS, AEMT, earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A & M University, her Master of Science degree from TWU – Houston, and her Doctorate from Simmons College. She is board certified in orthopaedic and sports physical therapy and has worked in outpatient settings for the past 28 years. Although Dr. Hughes works with a variety of clients. She has a particular interest in treating foot and ankle injuries and in sports-related concussion rehabilitation. Dr. Hughes has been certified as an AEMT for the past 30 years. During that time period, she has worked for 911 response Emergency Medical Services as well as volunteering medical support for a multitude of events. Her knowledge base as an AEMT is utilized in the treatment of emergent patients in both the physical therapy clinic and the community.

Melanie Buckner, PT, DPT, earned a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Northwestern University and is a Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Sports Physical Therapy. Melanie’s areas of interest and specialization include knee, sports injuries, gymnastics, and is a member of our Knee Institute team. She has advanced certification/training in Dry Needling and as a clinical instructor for physical therapy students. Melanie’s Memorial Hermann collaborations include Houston Christian University. She is involved in research surrounding Sports-Related Knee Injuries and teaches in Memorial Hermann’s Sports and Orthopedic Physical Therapy Residency programs. She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and the Texas Physical Therapy Association. Melanie enjoys traveling, exploring Houston coffee shops, and group fitness classes.

Lequita Williams-Golden, PT, DPT, SCS, MEd, and MBA, earned her Bachelor of Science degree from West Virginia University, her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Temple University, and Masters in Educational Psychology from University of Houston and Executive Masters in Business Administration from Texas Southern University. She is a board-certified sports physical therapist. She has worked in outpatient settings for the past 14 years with experience in Pediatrics, Orthopedics and Sports Medicine. Dr. Golden takes a special interest in treating various hip conditions, pediatric patients, dancers and gymnasts.

Justin Howard, PT, DPT, OCS, SCS, FDN-2, received a degree in kinesiology from Texas A&M University and a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Texas Woman’s University-Houston. He is residency graduate of Memorial Hermann’s Rockets Sports Medicine Orthopedic Residency program and a Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopedic Physical therapy for 9 years and Sports Physical Therapy for 8 years. Dr. Howard’s areas of interest and specialization include sports injuries, spine, and knee/shoulder injuries. He works with special populations in the Memorial Hermann Baseball Medicine program and Memorial Hermann Hip Preservation program. He has advanced certification/training in Manual Therapy, Dry Needling and Emergency Response. Dr. Howard is involved in mentoring in the Rockets Orthopedic and Sports Physical Therapy Residency Program, clinical education of DPT students and is clinic manager for Pearland East SM&R. Justin is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association. Justin enjoys golfing, hiking, bike riding and recreational sports of all kinds.

Erik Calzada, PT, DPT, SCS, ATC/L, received a Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training from Texas Christian University and a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and is a residency trained and Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Sports Physical Therapy. Erik’s areas of interest and specialization include sports injuries, particularly of the knee and shoulder, concussion management, and is a member of our Knee Center of Excellence. He has/have advanced certification/training in Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM), manual therapy and return to sport management. Erik’s Memorial Hermann collaborations include Sam Houston State University. He is involved in teaching/research involving Sports-Related Knee Injuries and has presented research at national meetings. Erik is a member of the Sports Academy of the American Physical Therapy Association. He enjoys attending sporting events of his alma mater TCU Horned Frogs and spending time with his dog.
