Course Description: The 2026 Red Duke Trauma Symposium will address advances in trauma, emergency medicine, critical care and rehabilitation. This two-day course is designed for pre-hospital care providers, nurses, advanced practitioners, physicians and physical therapists. Leading specialists in acute care general surgery, emergency medicine, orthopedic traumatology and neuro trauma will highlight advances in the treatment of adult and pediatric patients with an array of traumatic injuries and the development of appropriate strategies for incorporating evidence-based protocols into clinical management. In addition to didactic lectures and case studies, participants will get hands-on training with multidisciplinary skills stations.
 
Learning Objectives: Upon completion of this course participants will be able to:
  1. Incorporate evidence-based protocols and multidisciplinary strategies into the acute management of adult and pediatric trauma patients, from pre-hospital care through rehabilitation, including pre-hospital burn care and dispelling common myths.
  2. Evaluate emerging technologies and innovations in trauma surgery, spinal cord injury rehabilitation, and prosthetics to enhance clinical outcomes.
  3. Apply best practices in pre-hospital and hospital-based interventions, including whole blood administration, hemorrhage control, and regional transfer coordination, to improve trauma system efficiency.
  4. Enhance preparedness and team resilience by integrating lessons learned from mass casualty incident planning, large-scale event response, and provider well-being initiatives.
