Erik Calzada, PT, DPT, SCS, ATC/L, graduated from Texas Christian University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Athletic Training and the University of Texas at Southwestern Medical Center with a Doctorate of Physical Therapy. He is a board certified and residency trained sports physical therapist and a licensed and certified athletic trainer. He has worked in sports medicine at the division 1 collegiate level with Texas Christian University and Sam Houston State University athletics programs. He continues to work as an outreach athletic trainer and serves as a faculty member and mentor in the Memorial Hermann sports residency program.
Kate Hughes, PT, DPT, MS, OCS, SCS, AEMT, earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A & M University, her Master of Science degree from TWU – Houston, and her Doctorate from Simmons College. She is board certified in orthopaedic and sports physical therapy and has worked in outpatient settings for the past 23 years. Although Dr. Hughes works with a variety of clients. She has a particular interest in treating foot and ankle injuries and in sports-related concussion rehabilitation. Dr. Hughes has been certified as an AEMT for the past 27 years. During that time period, she has worked for 911 response Emergency Medical Services as well as volunteering medical support for a multitude of events. Her knowledge base as an AEMT is utilized in the treatment of emergent patients in both the physical therapy clinic and the community.
Dexter Upton, PT, DPT, SCS, is a dual certified (OCS/SCS) and fellowship-trained physical therapist. He has served as both sports residency director and D1 sports fellowship coordinator for Memorial Hermann and currently acts as the Director of the Ironman Sports Medicine Institute – Memorial City. Dr. Upton also serves in the specialization SIG of the AASPT and has spoken at the local, state, and national levels. Dexter’s PT interests focus on post-professional education and integrating return to sport for patients suffering from low back pain.
Lequita Williams-Golden, PT, DPT, SCS, MEd, and MBA, earned her Bachelor of Science degree from West Virginia University, her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Temple University, and Masters in Educational Psychology from University of Houston and Executive Masters in Business Administration from Texas Southern University. She is a board-certified sports physical therapist. She has worked in outpatient settings for the past 14 years with experience in Pediatrics, Orthopedics and Sports Medicine. Dr. Golden takes a special interest in treating various hip conditions, pediatric patients, dancers and gymnasts.
Bubba Wilson, LAT, ATC, CCISM, an Athletic Trainer with over 30 years of experience in the Secondary, Clinical and Outreach arenas of Athletic Training/Sports Medicine, is currently an Outreach Athletic Trainer for Memorial Hermann Hospital System in Houston, Texas. At Memorial Hermann, he assisted in the development of the Concussion Program, the Concussion Management Protocol and Return to Play Protocol for Public and Private Schools. Mr. Wilson was instrumental in the development and implementation of the Heat Policy for athletics in Humble ISD which has been adopted and utilized by several other school districts in the Houston area. Bubba is a past Board of Director for the Texas State Athletic Trainers Association where he served as the liaison between the TSATA and the SWATA Executive Board. He is considered a Subject Matter Expert for and serves on the Exam Development Committee for the Athletic Training Licensure Examination through the Texas Department of Licensure and Regulation. He is a Past President of the Greater Houston Athletic Trainers Society. In 2014, he was inducted into their inaugural Hall of Honor Class. Mr. Wilson has additionally served on several committees for the Southwest Athletic Trainers Association. In 2016, Bubba was named as the District 6 representative for the NATA ATs Care Committee where he continues to serve today.
