Course Description: This training will include educational modules designed to prepare therapists for treating on and off the field sports injuries, including acute stabilization of athletes until they can receive more specific medical care and/or evaluate them to return to play. This training prepares the attendee for primary and secondary assessments in acute trauma situations of individuals and/or groups of individuals. Upon successful completion, participants will have been trained and tested in the EMR systems, management of bleeding and wound management, head and spine injuries, fracture and dislocation management, airway emergencies and oxygen administration, blood borne pathogens, appropriate use of an Epinephrine auto-injector & Asthma Inhalers, and an optional module on CPR for the Professional Rescuer.
Full INITIAL CERTIFICATION COURSE CONTENTRequirements and Hour Totals:
Online Content Including Module Tests = 13.3 Hours. All online content, including the test, with a passing score of 80% must be completed prior to the in-person course date.
RE-CERTIFICATION COURSE Requirements and Hours Total:
In-person Content = 8.0 Hours (Pre-requisite is prior EMR Certification)
Re-certification course participants have access to review all online content prior to the in-person course.

Course participants must complete any & all formal assessments (including course evaluation), procedures, and criteria required for credit or certification. As per Memorial Hermann policy, participants must attend the entire course in order to receive CEUs/CCUs and course certificate, no partial credits will be given.
PT/PTA: The Initial Course content for online and in-person components is approved for 21.3 CCUs. The Recertification Course in-person content is approved for 8.0 CCUs. This activity imeets continuing competence requirements for physical therapist and physical therapist assistant licensure renewal in Texas. The assignment of Texas PT CCUs does not imply endorsement of specific course content, products, or clinical procedures by TPTA or TBPTE.
ATC/LAT: The initial certification program is eligible for a maximum of 22.0 hours/CEUs. The Recertification Course in-person is eligible for a maximum of 7.0 hours/CEUs. ATs should claim only those hours actually spent in the educational program. ATs should claim only those hours actually spent in the education program.
