Course Description:
The 2025 Red Duke Trauma Symposium will address advances in trauma, emergency medicine and critical care. This two-day course is designed for pre-hospital care providers, nurses, advanced practitioners and physicians. Leading specialists in acute care general surgery, emergency medicine, orthopedic traumatology and neuro trauma will highlight advances in the treatment of adult and pediatric patients with an array of traumatic injuries and the development of appropriate strategies for incorporating evidence-based protocols into clinical management. In addition to didactic lectures and case studies, participants will get hands-on training with multidisciplinary skills stations.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this course participants will be able to:
Describe the care for patients in the prehospital setting
Explain the appropriate care for special populations (pediatric, geriatrics, MCIs)
Site (list) the treatment options for specific trauma situations (spinal cord injuries, shock, hemorrhage, orthopedic trauma, and thoracic injuries)
Discuss best practices for orthopedic care
Contrast (explain) the treatment differences for traumatic injuries among adults and pediatric populations.
Explain the rehabilitation process after traumatic injuries.
