Nursing Resilience in Changing Times
Nursing is a very highly specialized profession, which is constantly changing and evolving to meet the changes in the health care arena. Although very rewarding, nursing can be a stressful and labor-intensive job. From caring for challenging patients with new and different diagnoses and treatments, to constantly leaning new and innovative skills and interventions, nurses face a never-ending challenge to meet the needs of the patients/families that they serve. Because of the present demands on the nurse such as staffing issues, documentation, completing patient care with conflicting demands, shift working, lack of self-care and many other issues, stress is a major concern.
The purpose for this course is to provide the nurse with strategies and skills to meet these ongoing concerns and stressors by learning how resiliency can be a protective factor against emotional and psychological exhaustion, stress reduction techniques, ways of feeling valued as a nurse and finally; yet importantly, what does the future hold for nursing.
This course will explore these topics over a virtual, synchronous, interactive environment with nursing leaders providing their expertise on these important topics. Active participation and discussion using case presentations/scenarios will engage the participant in self-reflection and problem solving. Presenters to discuss each of the topics will use current literature.
