Course Description:
This one-day seminar will educate participants on medical concerns, therapy treatment approaches, team planning, prosthetic information, and collaboration across the rehabilitation team for those with an amputation. This will include medical and rehabilitation considerations for pre-amputation, acute post-surgical, pre-prosthetic, and prosthetics.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this course participants will be able to:
Analyze the influences of medical complications on the long-term use of prosthetics and patient outcomes.
Categorize prosthetic candidates and equate them with functional outcomes and prosthetic componentry.
Choose appropriate assessment and outcome measures for client specific to their limb loss and functional needs.
Illustrate how to maximize movement with an understanding of prosthetic components and therapy interventions.
