Parking: | Park in Garage #5 and then you can take the sky bridge to Memorial Hermann Tower or go to ground level and walk to the building. Do not park in any spot labeled Gateway as your car will be towed. |

Overview
Course Description: This a half-day course focused on current medical and rehabilitative techniques to mitigate and reduce symptoms after concussion. It will cover sport and non-sport related injuries throughout the recovery process from point of injury to return to work, learn, and/or sport. The experienced multi-disciplinary team of presenters will include physical therapists, speech language pathologist, neuropsychologist, and physicians board certified in neurology and physical medicine and rehabilitation.
Learning Objectives: At the end of the course, participants will be able to:
1. Describe treatment approaches for individuals with persistent concussion symptoms and prolonged recovery.
2. Identify behavioral techniques that can be utilized to address emotional response following concussion.
3. Establish a return to activity action plan that healthcare providers and school officials can enact for the concussed student
4. Identify medications generally aimed at managing sleep, somatic, emotional, and cognitive issues commonly seen in concussed patients.
5. Compare Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) with other neurodegenerative diseases and discuss similarities and differences in clinical and neuropathological features.
