Course Description: This course provides an in-depth exploration of custom-molded seating systems designed for clients with complex postural needs that cannot be effectively managed with off-the-shelf seating components. Participants will learn about clinical indications such as severe scoliosis, pelvic obliquity, spasticity, and contractures, as well as various materials and technologies including foam-in-place molding, foam carving, and 3D scanning. The course will demonstrate the entire custom mold process, from evaluation through fitting, highlighting common challenges and troubleshooting strategies. Through case examples, attendees will see measurable improvements in posture, comfort, and tolerance, particularly in neurological populations, emphasizing the critical role of interdisciplinary collaboration.
