Course Description:
This seminar will educate participants on medical concerns, therapy treatment approaches, prosthetic information, and collaboration across the rehabilitation team for those with limb loss. This will include medical and rehabilitation considerations for pre-amputation, acute post-surgical, pre-prosthetic, and prosthetics for those with upper and lower limb loss. We will also include information on osseointegration considerations and treatments.
 
Learning Objectives/Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
  1. Identify the medical complications patients experience after an amputation and/or during the use of a prosthesis.
  2. Apply categories of prosthetic candidates (K-Levels) and equate them with functional outcomes and prosthetic componentry. 
  3. Differentiate assessment and outcome measures specific to a patient's limb loss and functional needs, including ADLs.
  4. Illustrate therapy interventions which will promote functional use of prosthetica for increased independence in mobility activities and/or activities in daily living.
            Assessment of Learning Objectives/Learning Outcomes: Discussion, Question and answer, course feedback form, & passing a post-course quiz of 80% or greater.
