Course Description: Nurses in all settings are in a position to be leaders in the advancement of nursing practice by inspiring, engaging and elevating themselves and their co-workers. This course will provide examples of how nurses have inspired healthcare leaders, become engaged in organizations and other activities and elevated the care and practice of nursing by seeking innovative means of educating prospective nurses. The presenters will describe different methods used by nurses that have inspired them to become engaged in different activities such as leadership in organizations, development of different processes to mentor and educate new nurses in order to elevate the nursing practice.
Learning Objectives:Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
1. Describe how nurses inspire leaders in healthcare.
2. Discuss examples of how nurses can be more involved with families advocating for their needs.
3. Identify the benefits of nurses being engaged in professional organizations.
4. Relate different strategies that nurses can use to inspire, engage, and elevate themselves and other nurses.
